A porcelain factory in Qing dynasty, which retains a complete porcelain making process and produces and manages supporting facilities, revisited the sky in late June after the renovation of the cultural relics department in Liling City, Hunan Province.
China's famous “Ceramic City†- Yuezhuang Bay, Dongshan Township, Liling City, Hunan Province, China, was founded in the Qing Dynasty porcelain factory. This ancient porcelain factory retains complete workshops for refining clay, making blanks, painting, making materials, and step kiln, as well as supporting facilities such as offices and staff canteens. The distribution area exceeds 1,500 square meters. In the 1980s, the Qing Dynasty porcelain factory was abandoned. As time went on, the ancient porcelain factory was gradually broken and it was lost in the weeds.
After field investigation, Hunan cultural relics experts believe that the Moonstone Ancient Porcelain Factory can clearly reflect the original style of the “Fuling Porcelain†industry in the Qing Dynasty, and is an important “cultural symbol†for the transition from the workshop to the factory in South China Porcelain, with a relatively high Heritage value. For this reason, the Fuling City Cultural Relics Bureau spent 10 months on the premise of being loyal to the original appearance and started repairing this special architectural complex, restoring the original appearance of the ancient porcelain factory.
With the "Underglaze Multicolored Porcelain" buzzing at home and abroad in the city of Liling in Hunan, the local government and cultural relics departments have in recent years attached importance to salvage protection and restoration to highlight the historical relics of ceramic culture. In addition to the Yuezhuang Bay ancient porcelain factory, the ancient building Tianfu Hall, which covers an area of more than 1,000 square meters and is inextricably connected with the local porcelain industry during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, is also undergoing renovations.
